Local Attractions

Heavenly Hills is nestled in the pristine majesty of the Stanislaus National Forest with no lack of local activities and attractions. Feel free to ask any of our Staff questions and they will be delighted to share their suggested experiences. Listed below are just a few we wanted to share with you.

Stanislaus River

Just a quarter-mile down from Heavenly Hills' property is the South Fork of the Stanislaus River. Depending on the water level, campers can go swimming and fishing at various spots up and down the river. Our Staff would be thrilled to tell you about our recommended swimming holes.

Stanislaus National Forest

One of the oldest nationals forests, the Stanislaus National Forest has a bounty of hiking trails, vista points, and forest lakes. Be sure to ask our Staff about our recommended scenic adventures.

Twain Harte

Twain Harte's unique name is derived from two of California's most well known authors, Mark Twain and Bret Harte. Nestled near Twain Harte Lake, this quaint little town has a local market, library, park, swimming pool, and both a mini-golf and full-size golf course.

Lyons Reservoir

This man-made lake supplies Twain Harte and other nearby locals with water through the use of Lyons Dam. Practically in Heavenly Hills' backyard, a 2-mile moderate-easy hike can lead to fantastic sight-seeing, hiking, and biking. Swimming and boating are not allowed. Car access is available from May 1st to Nov. 1st.

Pinecrest Lake

A 35 minute drive up Hwy 108 reveals the beautiful expanse of Pinecrest Lake. Numerous activities including hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and biking are available to visitors. The Pinecrest Lake Resort also includes a market, restaurant/bar, tackle shop, expresso bar, rental cabins, campgrounds, and an outdoor theater.

Dodge Ridge Ski Area

Just around the corner from Pinecrest Lake sits Dodge Ridge Ski Area with 1600 vertical feet, 862 skiable acres, 67 trails, and 12 lifts. During the Fall, Winter, and Spring, Dodge Ridge is open 7 days a week.

Aspen Meadows Pack Station

Close to Pinecrest and Dodge Ridge, Aspen Meadows Pack Station provides your choice of an hour, two-hour, half day, or all day horseback trail rides guided by experienced staff through the Emigrant Wilderness area.

Long Barn Lodge - Ice Skating Arena

Open November through May, Long Barn Lodge's Ice Skating Arena provides both public and private ice-skating on their indoor rink. Private individual and/or group ice skating lessons are also available.

Leland Snowplay

Leland Snowplay has been hosting fun in the snow since 1991. Outfitted with tube-lifts up their Big Hills, snow-park specific inner-tubes, and even a state of the art Snowmaking System, this snow-park will satisfy any snow day needs.
